Third generation builder Brian Lessard believes in supporting and being loyal to Delaware contractors that put quality first. Lessard Builders has been building new homes with the Sam Yoder and Sons construction team for over thirty years. Here are seven reasons why every Lessard home is built with Sam Yoder and Son truss systems.

Sam Yoder and Sons Construction

  1. Reliable Reputation. There is a reason why every real estate expert in Delaware has heard of Sam Yoder and Sons – they are known for their dedication to quality service since they were established in 1975. Like builder Brian Lessard, their experienced team personally visits the construction site while the trusses are set by the framers. They have been in association with reputed construction teams like diy roofs from in and around the place for decades.
  2. Family owned and operated business. Led by the Yoder family, Sam Yoder and Sons can deliver high quality, knowledgeable service because many of the team members have been there for over twenty five years !
  3. Sealed Stamp of Approval. Engineered wood trusses minimize the “extra” cutting and framing on the job site, eliminate the need for interior load bearing walls by “clear-spanning” large distances and provide design flexibility for custom homes. Each truss is designed with laser precision to meet exact specifications and reinforce stability.
  4. Community Oriented. Sam Yoder and Sons gives back to the community through sponsorship opportunities and supporting local charities. In June 2015 they were instrumental in the Home Builder Blitz Build project with Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity – with Sam Yoder and Sons built walls and truss systems we were able to frame a whole house in one day!
  5. “We’re not always the cheapest, but we’re the best”. Sam Yoder and Sons strives to bring you reasonable prices using high quality construction materials. For instance, they have been using top quality MSR Spruce from western Canada since 1998. MSR Spruce is more durable than the standard knotty pine that most home builders use. When Sam Yoder & Sons uses pine for their truss system it is the DSS pine which is from the heart of the tree, a stronger part of the tree without the knots.
  6. Attention to detail. Sam Yoder and Son is the preferred supplier to many of the real estate industry’s leading new home builders and construction companies due to a combination of personal service, attention to detail and the employment of advanced  technology partnering with companies such as retractable roof systems Melbourne.
  7. The Designer’s Choice. The Sam Yoder and Son trussed roof system allows for better custom home design, offering the opportunity to create unique, eye-catching and highly individual roofs without breaking the budget.  Structures can be personalized per specialized roofing finish and a wide range of roof shapes. Leave your home safe and beautiful with Apal Roofing Company.

Interested in learning more about quality construction and engineered truss system? Set up a time to meet with third generation builder, Brian Lessard – he’d be happy to answer your questions.

Are you searching for real estate and custom home builder sites for the perfect community in coastal Delaware? Here are are 6 reasons to build your next custom home in Showfield, the latest luxury home neighborhood without a builder tie in – at the beach!

Showfield New Home Community

  1. Premier Location. The beautiful Showfield new home community is tucked between Gill’s Neck Road and King’s Highway in Lewes just half a mile away from Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes Beach, downtown restaurants and shopping.
  2. Custom Home Land in Lewes. There are very few custom home builders that will take up projects this close to the iconic Second Street in downtown Lewes. There are only 166 lots available with the average lot size at 19,155 square feet or .44 acre.
  3. Luxury Amenities. The future plan for Showfield will include a community clubhouse, community pool, wooded walking trails and four ponds including the 16 acre natural amenity, Whites Pond.
  4. Coastal Character and Historical Charm. The Showfield property overlooks the Rehoboth Lewes Canal and the developers, Jack Lingo Realtors, which is a Home Selling Realtor, have preserved an original barn to reflect the property’s history. The name Showfield has a historical significance – the 132 acre field hosted one of the most notable horse shows in coastal Delaware. It was run by the local Smith family and benefited St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, The Children’s Bureau and The Lion’s Club.
  5. Build a Lessard Custom Home in Showfield. Lessard Builders will be moving from the Villages of Five Points East to our new model home in Showfield this year. We’re beyond excited to build Lessard signature and innovative new home designs that have never been seen before like foundation forms. (Ask us about them in our next – or first – meeting!)
  6. Junction and Breakwater Trail. Showfield Community members will have direct access to one of coastal Delaware’s favorite trails – the Junction and Breakwater Trail. Suitable for hikers, bikers and strollers, this scenic trail follows a section of the former Penn Central railroad between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach for approximately five miles.

Question & Answer interview with Delaware new home builder, Brian Lessard. Questions originally appeared in the Dover Post, Milestones In Business community newspaper.

Q: How did the Lessard family become introduced to the real estate and construction industry?

A: My grandfather, Dan Lessard, started a business based on providing new construction homes, pole barns and buildings in Long Island, New York in the 1940s. Following in his footsteps, my father, Addie Lessard, worked on the construction sites with my grandfather, learned the trade and passed the knowledge onto my brothers and me. When I was young, my family relocated to Delaware at a time when Delaware’s economic outlook was developing and there was more opportunity for the construction and agriculture industries. Before you continue you should make sure you find a construction scaffolding company to hire, that way the construction process can go by much more smoothly with the aid of a reliable and professional scaffolding company.

New Home Builder Delaware
Throwback: Brian Building With His Father & Brother

Q: What type of projects has Lessard Builders worked on throughout the years?

A: Lessard Builders has built schools, commercial buildings and residential homes in Kent, Sussex and New Castle Counties over the years. Commercial construction projects include Saint Thomas More Academy in Magnolia, All Climate Storage Center in Lewes, Sea Colony projects in Bethany Beach and office buildings in Camden. Some of these constructions have been more complex than usual, and valuable learning experiences. Thankfully, technology has made working in construction easier and simpler over time. Things that would have been impossible to build are now possible thanks to the use of tools and equipment. A good example is overhead cranes, allowing for more complex roofs, as well as faster and safer construction of taller structures.

Self Storage Lewes Delaware

Q: What type of changes have you seen throughout the years in the new home building industry?

A: Lessard Builders personalizes every home design we build so naturally we’ve seen a variation in residential plans over the years due to market trends and client requests. We’ve also seen new technologies be introduced that streamline certain processes or allow us to save time, making the whole process much faster. On our previous project we had a storm pass by and flood our new construction when we were only on our fifth or sixth day. This would usually mean halting everything for a week or two until the terrain was in good condition to work in. Instead, we employed a wellpoint dewatering system, and that made short work of the problem. Not having to wait for something like this to pass, and doing something about it instead has made our job easier, faster, and more comfortable for everyone involved.

New Home Delaware Beach

Q: How many hours in a week do you typically work?

A: About 70 hours a week.

What is the best part of owning your own business?

Being able to share the business with my children.

What is the feedback or accomplishment you are most proud of?

Turning people’s dreams into reality. Before we hit the drawing board for a new home design we have a creative brainstorming session with each client to talk about how they live, what they want in their next home, the products they love and budget. Our goal is to shape these concepts into a personalized functional design that works in their price range and makes them happy.

What is a good business tip you don’t mind sharing?

Wake up every day with an optimistic outlook. Tell yourself that “today is going to be a good day”. If you start the day with a positive attitude, you’re setting an expectation for how the rest of your day will turn out.

What is the one piece of advice you would give to someone starting a business today?

Make certain that you love what you do. If you’re going to start a business, make sure you are truly passionate about your vision and not just in it to make the most money.

Where did you go on your last vacation?

Disney World & Universal Studios with my children and grandchildren

Do you have a guilty pleasure?

Vacations. I really enjoy traveling and vacationing with my family. It allows me to unplug, recharge and think creatively without distractions of the common business day.

Brian’s father, Addie, was a second generation custom home builder that learned his expertise from his father, Daniel. Villages of Five Points East: Custom Home and Lot Packages in Lewes, Delaware

Last week was a great week of real estate conversations. We hosted an open

house at the model home in The Villages of Five Points East in Lewes, Delaware which allowed me to chat with new home buyers, new home owners and real estate agents. I received some really great feedback which prompted me to write an informational post on new homes at The Villages of Five Points East and Lessard Builders home and lot packages. I hope the following information helps answer questions in your Lewes, Delaware new home search – if you have any additional questions or would like to meet with builder Brian Lessard, email me at [email protected] or call (302) 645-7444.

The Feedback

– A local real estate agent said that many people do not consider building a custom home because they think that making changes to the plans would be too expensive.  Home and Lot Packages in the Villages of Five Points East begin at $380,000 and you have the ability to change the configuration of the walls and interior layout at no additional cost to you. Every Lessard Builders home built is personalized to suit the needs of the homeowner.

– An appraiser inspected a Lessard home under construction stated that the quality of a Lessard Builders home surpasses the quality of many popular home builders at the Delaware beaches. (Yay! What awesome feedback!)

– An open house visitor asked if we could build one of our new home designs on a lot that they own in The Retreat at Love Creek in Lewes or Wagamon’s West Shores in Milton. Yes – we can do that! We can build on any new home community lot without a builder tie in.

Lessard Builders Partners With Habitat for Humanity For Delaware Home Builders Blitz Build For Delaware home builder Brian Lessard giving back the community has always been a priority. Over the years he has worked with numerous non-profits within the Delaware community through with local schools, organizations such as Harvest Years Senior Center, Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of Wilmington and in most recent years, Habitat for Humanity. “I enjoy working with Habitat for Humanity because everything you do is local in the Delaware community and as an individual you actually see your effort making a difference in your backyard. Habitat for Humanity has evolved into a niche non-profit for me because the required skills to give back to the community and resources are directly related to the new construction industry while helping others succeed.” – Brian Lessard, Lessard Builders The Lessard Builders Team has worked with both the Kent County and Sussex County Delaware Habitat for Humanity chapters through various Women Builds, Delaware Home Builders Blitz Builds and every day new home construction builds. Most recently, Brian’s rewarding experience working with Habitat for Humanity has influenced him become the President of the local Central Delaware chapter and become a major home builder partner in Central Delaware’s first Home Builders Blitz Build.

Central Delaware Home Builders Blitz: Two Homes. Two Families. One Week! Central Delaware Habitat for Humanity plans to build two homes in downtown Dover, Delaware in one week. Brian Lessard is overseeing the project in the planning stages as President and acting as the home builder for one of the Builders Blitz homes in downtown Dover. The second home will be built by Habitat for Humanity construction volunteers and local contractors. The 2015 Home Builders Blitz houses are part of a total of five proposed Habitat for Humanity new construction homes in downtown Dover and part of two recent community development support programs, the Downtown Development District designation and the newly created Strong Neighborhoods Housing Fund. Today I feel grateful for my work environment. I just finished reading a few articles on the evolution of office space trends, in recent years closed office spaces were transformed to an open work environment that eliminated walls and grouped co-workers around multiple tables. Since then studies have shown that personalities and work ethics are clashing, affecting productivity and the open work environments are now incorporating work space pods.  They are very small resemble the look and size of a helicopter cockpit. Yikes. pod 2 So, what do mini work space pods have to do with a model home for sale in Lewes Delaware? I work from the professionally decorated model home in The Villages of Five Points and I appreciate working here for the cozy surroundings and convenient locale. The comfort of being at home working from the couch, at the dining room table, on the patio in the sun or working from the sun room on a breezy day totally beats an eensy weensy cubicle pod. The kitchen is just a few steps away when you need it and a cup of coffee at Arena’s Deli, dinner at FishOn! or pastries at Touch of Italy is a quick walk around the corner at The Villages of Five Points Town Center.

Lunch anywhere on 2nd Street downtown Lewes is only a few blocks away and taking a “brain break” to soak up the sun, sand and waves is easy to do before, during or after work. Often times I catch the sunset or sunrise at one of the beaches nearby in Lewes or kick off the morning with views of Oyster Rocks, Broadkill Beach, Lewes Beach, Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes Boat Ramp, Canalfront Park off of Pilottown Road or Prime Hook Wildlife Preserve.

Home For Sale In Lewes Delaware The Sonoma, Lessard Builders Model Home

I’m going to miss the Sonoma model in The Villages of Five Points East. We’re currently selling it with a leaseback program so that means that we’ll rent it back from it’s new homeowner for a year or two while we finish building new homes in The Villages of Five Points East. For me, it might take that long to part with being so close to Lewes, Delaware every day.

Downtown Lewes Delaware King’s Ice Cream on 2nd Street Downtown Lewes, Delaware

Another perk to working from a professionally decorated model home is the lack of distractions! Everything is perfectly placed, stylish, aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, your favorite Sirius Radio station plays throughout the entire house and everything is already clean. If you have ever worked from home – you’ll understand the frustration of distractions like folding laundry, dusting, dishes in the sink and that to do list just keeps nipping at you until it is finished (which is never). If you’re interested in the Sonoma at The Villages of Five Points East, you’ll be happy to know that the home can be purchased completely furnished – from top to bottom. You’ll just have to move right in! Even if you are not yet ready to purchase a new home – you should still stop in to check it out! Email us at Homes (at) LessardBuilders.com, call (302) 645-7444 to make an appointment or just stop in from 11 pm to 5 pm. We’re open daily except major holidays.

Unmask A Child’s Future Charity Event:
Delaware Masquerade Ball for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sussex County, Delaware

Prior to sitting down with the Sussex County organizers of the Unmask A Child’s Future: Delaware Masquerade Ball, I shared the same first hand knowledge that most people have about the Boys & Girls Clubs Delaware: that the clubs are gyms where the community comes together for after school activities and athletics. I learned that the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware are much, much more than that and play a large role in the futures of Delaware students.

Let’s face it, life is not so easy being a kid these days. Poverty, obesity and high school dropout rates are real life challenges for today’s youth. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware help combat these challenges by providing a unique mix of quality programs that focus on education, character building, physical education, health, and the arts. Collectively, the Delaware clubs serve over 25,000 youth — 1 out of every five school-aged children in the state. Over fifty percent of the children served have annual family incomes of $20,000 and forty percent of the youth come from single parent households. I was impressed to learn that 87 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to services and programs for kids and that sixty percent of club students in the educational programs see better results in Delaware State Testing.

One Large Event To Help All The Clubs in Sussex County
What makes The Delaware Masquerade Ball different from other Boys & Girls Club events in Sussex County? I can tell you from Gals That Give experience that it takes a lot of effort to put together a fundraiser – event planning, creating a committee, finding sponsors, auction items, securing the venue, choosing the menu, talking to vendors, selling tickets, sending invitations and then there are the small details that pop up along the way. There are six clubs in Sussex County and each individual club goes through this process multiple times a year for separate events within the same county, shared communities, sponsors, vendors, etc. The goal behind The Boys & Girls Club Masquerade Ball of Sussex County is to bring the Delaware community together for one event with larger sponsorships, attendance and proceeds to be split amongst the clubs of Sussex County. It makes sense to me! Neighbors helping neighbors – we’re a small state with a strong community and why not bring everyone together to support all the clubs in one large event and relieve pressure on some of the smaller events.

Yay! We’re A Sponsor: Join us at Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Delaware Masquerade Ball!
The Lessard Builders team is pretty excited to attend the Masquerade Ball on March 7th to help build great futures for the boys and girls of Sussex County. Tickets are still available – we hope you’ll decide to mark your calendars for March 7th and party with us for a good cause. Keep reading to learn more about the event and about The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware.

A Fundraiser for #GreatFutures in Sussex County
The Masquerade Ball.. Unmask A Child’s Future is a black tie event and will be held Saturday, March 7th from 6 pm to 11 pm at Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville, Delaware. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased online by clicking this link or reservations can be made by contacting Zaida I. Guajardo at [email protected]. Proceeds benefit the Georgetown, Oak Orchard, Dagsboro, Seaford and Laurel Boys and Girls Clubs.

Masks & Music: Party Like Its Mardi Gras!
The Masquerade Ball is what it sounds like – a big party where guests can rock their favorite mask. It brings me back to the 1990’s version of Romeo & Juliet with Leonardo Dicaprio! It looks like so much fun. There will be entertainment from The Fabulous Grease Band, live auction, silent auction, step & repeat photography by Mike Baker & much more.

Event Sponsors: Let’s Party For Charity!
Lessard Builders is not the only business that supports a fancy evening out for a good cause. Other sponsors include The Freeman Foundation, Fulton Bank, Johnny Janosiks, Nanticoke Hospital, Craig’s Technologies, The Car Store and Discover are some of the few that have signed up to party for a good cause to date.

Win Something Awesome At The Auction
Items are still coming in from local businesses but the latest list includes auction items from 16 Mile Brewing Company, a low digit tag from the Delaware Department of Motor Vehicle, Complimentary Storage from All Climate Storage, Harrington Raceway & Casino: Bonz Gift Certificate, Ducks Unlimited, NASCAR Tickets, Coastal Brewing Company, Charlton Limited Jewelers, Bizzy Bee Service and Big Fish! Grill Restaurant.

Phantom of The Opera or Mardi Gras?
We hope you’ll join us in Bridgeville, Delaware next month! It is going to be a fantastic time. The hardest part will be trying to figure out which mask style to choose – I’m torn between choosing the Phantom of the Opera or a Venetian Mardi Gras look. Which style would you choose?

Tuxedo Rental Gives Back To Boys & Girls Clubs
Guys – if you need to rent a tuxedo for the event, you can rent your tuxedo from event sponsor, Bizzy Bee Service for the Masquerade Ball from any of the Sussex County locations. Bizzy Bee Service will donate 10% of all rentals to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware. In addition, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware’s Corporate Board will MATCH the donation! Call 302-841-9639 for information.

Testimonials

Douglas Family

It has been 5 months since we took possession of our Lessard built home. We are pleased Lessard was our chosen builder as the house more than meets all of our expectations. From the workmanship, to the paint, the floors, the trim, the appliances and the total layout, we are extremely pleased. The Lessard family was there, by our side during all phases and remains a mere phone call away now that we are in. We, without reservation or hesitation, recommend Lessard Builders to anyone thinking about building their dream home. You will not be disappointed!

Johnson Family

The entire Lessard team was amazing in helping us build the house of our dreams. From our very first meeting with them and throughout the process, they were extremely responsive. Their attention to detail was incomparable. We had a vision and they made it happen!

King family home

When we walked in the door of the Lessard model we were greeted by the builder himself and his daughter. We realized this clearly was a family business where the homes were built with pride, and it was never lost on my mother and I that our home was built as though we were family. My home is so well constructed that when the nor’easters blow at 65mph, my draperies never waft! We made so many changes to our home that I think the only original walls were the exterior, yet Lessard Builders didn’t charge us for rearranging the floor plan and moving all those walls. The Lessard team worked with us for over a year as we worked our floor plan to suit our needs and there was never a sense of rush or urgency. I’ve never had so much fun and our home turned out absolutely perfect.
