Live Delaware

May 8, 2020 by scstarter

Today I feel grateful for my work environment. I just finished reading a few articles on the evolution of office space trends, in recent years closed office spaces were transformed to an open work environment that eliminated walls and grouped co-workers around multiple tables. Since then studies have shown that personalities and work ethics are clashing, affecting productivity and the open work environments are now incorporating work space pods.  They are very small resemble the look and size of a helicopter cockpit. Yikes. So, what do mini work space pods have to do with a model home for sale in Lewes Delaware? I work from the professionally decorated model home in The Villages of Five Points and I appreciate working here for the cozy surroundings and convenient locale.

Companies like corporate housing st louis mo personally furnish and decorate your unit for your needs. Their setup is not a cookie-cutter, sight-unseen ‘whatever’ solution, their staff prepares each unit so that you are completely satisfied.

The comfort of being at home working from the couch, at the dining room table, on the patio in the sun or working from the sun room on a breezy day totally beats an eensy weensy cubicle pod. The kitchen and it’s recent granite remodeling project is just a few steps away when you need it and a cup of coffee at Arena’s Deli, dinner at FishOn! or pastries at Touch of Italy is a quick walk around the corner at The Villages of Five Points Town Center.

Villages of Five Points Boulevard

Lunch anywhere on 2nd Street downtown Lewes is only a few blocks away and taking a “brain break” to soak up the sun, sand and waves is easy to do before, during or after work. Often times I catch the sunset or sunrise at one of the beaches nearby in Lewes or kick off the morning with views of Oyster Rocks, Broadkill Beach, Lewes Beach, Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes Boat Ramp, Canalfront Park off of Pilottown Road or Prime Hook Wildlife Preserve.

The Sonoma, Lessard Builders Model Home

I’m going to miss the Sonoma model in The Villages of Five Points East. We’re currently selling it with a leaseback program so that means that we’ll rent it back from it’s new homeowner for a year or two while we finish building new homes in The Villages of Five Points East. For me, it might take that long to part with being so close to Lewes, Delaware every day.

King’s Ice Cream on 2nd Street Downtown Lewes, Delaware

Another perk to working from a professionally decorated model home is the lack of distractions! Everything is perfectly placed, stylish, aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, your favorite Sirius Radio station plays throughout the entire house and everything is already clean. Cleaning insurance is designed to protect you from the negative effects these risks could cause, helping you to stay in business and remain profitable. Protect your business through the Contractor Cover. If you have ever worked from home – you’ll understand the frustration of distractions like folding laundry, dusting, dishes in the sink and that to do list just keeps nipping at you until it is finished (which is never). If you’re interested in the Sonoma at The Villages of Five Points East, you’ll be happy to know that the home can be purchased completely furnished – from top to bottom. You’ll just have to move right in! Even if you are not yet ready to purchase a new home – you should still stop in to check it out! Email us at Homes (at) LessardBuilders.com, call (302) 645-7444 to make an appointment or just stop in from 11 pm to 5 pm. We’re open daily except major holidays.

The trouble with home plumbing problems is that they have a way of sneaking up on you and often at the worst possible time. But is there ever a good time to experience a problem with your plumbing? If you are looking for a reliable Plumber, don’t hesitate to give Roto Rooter a call.

Please see it here a few handy tips that will help make your life a little easier:

1. Keep an eye out for water leaks
Small water leaks can and often do lead to big problems. Be alert to signs that more trouble may be on the way in order to seek plumbing assistance on time. Leaking faucets, damp cabinets, rocking toilets or dripping refrigerators are all symptoms that require fast and decisive action. These may seem like small problems but they can turn out to be very serious. Make sure to contact your residential plumber for water heater repair and other plumbing issues. We always recommend being covered by a Home Warranty company like the one at https://homewarranty.firstam.com/articles/what-is-a-home-warranty, as it really can help you a lot when problems like these arise. In addition, getting a new hot water system installation and boiler installation can be a good idea.

2. Repair problems early
A leaking faucet isn’t just annoying. The moisture puts wear on sink fixtures and encourages mold and mildew growth. Another way to spot a plumbing leak is to pull your refrigerator away from the wall at least once a month. If you see water, you may have a leaking icemaker. Also, small puddles could be worse than larger ones, as that can indicate that water is soaking into your floor. Contact a plumbing services company for help on locating the leak.

3. Know how to respond to overflows
If water is gushing from your sink, toilet or anywhere else, locate your home’s main shut-off valve for the water supply. If it’s in a dark, hidden or hard-to-reach place, gather any tools you’ll need for a quick shut off and store them nearby. There’s nothing like the frustration of a missing flashlight or a misplaced shut-off key when water’s pouring down the stairs from a broken pipe, or a well pump break down, get a well pump installation. If the problem is a clogged toilet, make sure you contact a septic system pumping company for repair.

4. Shutting off appliances
According to most plumbers in henderson, you should also know how to shut off the water to individual sinks, toilets, washing machines and other water-using appliances. Knowing how to shut off the water supply when there’s a problem can reduce the potential damage and take some of the sting out of your cleanup efforts.

5. Know your pipe material
Know what material was used in constructing your pipes. If your home was built before 1970, you may have galvanized iron pipes that can eventually rust and corrode, causing the water pressure to drop and a brown tint to appear. When this happens, the pipes must be replaced by an experienced plumbing specialist who can recommend different types of stainless steel valves for sale.  Our fоrсе оf ѕkіllеd іrоn wоrkеrѕ аnd supervisors tаkе рrоjесtѕ frоm соnсерt tо соmрlеtіоn. 6. Learn how to tackle small problems
With a few tools and a little knowledge, most homeowners can learn how to handle small plumbing emergencies on their own but if it gets out of your hands use this helpful site to hire an expert plumber. With a plunger, a pipe wrench and a sewer snake in your tool kit, you’ll be able to take care of small problems like clogged drains or blocked pipes, you can always hire a residential drain cleaning for this.

Your sofa or recliner is the one place you always run to for solace, especially at the end of a long day spent on your feet. Nothing on earth feels as good as throwing yourself on that soft plush upholstery knowing that it will hold you steady and not buckle under the weight of your troubles.

This is why furniture upholstery with old stains, can be quite a downer but at https://ecocleansolutions.ie/upholstery-cleaning/ you can get the job done very easily or you can go to the nearest hardware store and find the solution with a few cleaning items. Unless you love using a throw blanket or covers on all your furniture we suggest you learn how to reclaim your furniture and conquer these unruly stains.

The old stains on your furniture’s upholstery should be cleaned with industrial vacuum pumps depending on the code the manufacturer has labeled it with and the type of stain you are dealing with. The care label or tag can be found underneath the furniture or below a cushion. Other manufacturers also give pamphlets that you really should store in a safe place for moments such as these. If you are not sure what your code is, then spot test cleaning agents starting with the most conservative cleaning agent and proceed on cautiously.

Finally if you think that is better to get rid off that old sofa and get a one, do not forget that furniture removal singapore can help you with the disposal of that old furniture.

Are you searching real estate and home builder sites for the perfect community in coastal Delaware? click this site from Weiner’s Mobile Estates 50 2nd St, Palmerton, PA 18071 (610) 657-9518. Here are are 6 reasons to build custom homes in Showfield, the latest luxury home neighborhood without a builder tie in – at the beach! Just make sure that if you want to lower the cost of your utilities to contact the Public Service Commission of South Carolina for more information.

Premier Location. The beautiful Showfield new home community is a haven for those seeking home mortgage services and with it’s location tucked between Gill’s Neck Road and King’s Highway in Lewes just half a mile away from Cape Henlopen State Park, Lewes Beach, downtown restaurants and shopping.
Custom Home Land in Lewes. There are very few custom home builders that will take up projects this close to the iconic Second Street in downtown Lewes. There are only 166 lots available with the average lot size at 19,155 square feet or .44 acre.

It was run by the local Smith family and benefited St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, The Children’s Bureau and The Lion’s Club. When you are done choosing this property the moving company New Orleans are still working and helping their clients make a safe move!

Suitable for hikers, bikers and strollers, this scenic trail follows a section of the former Penn Central railroad between Lewes and Rehoboth Beach for approximately five miles.

The Twelve Days of Christmas are here and the 2018 holiday season is heating up! Whether you celebrate Christmas, or you just finished celebrating Hanukkah, happy holidays!

This year for the holidays Lessard Builders made it our mission to go above and beyond anything we’d done before to spread cheer and help the less fortunate people of Delaware. Over the past few weeks everyone at Lessard Builders has been as busy as Santa’s elves, but we wanted to take a moment to talk a bit about the holidays at Lessard Builders and what we’ve been up to.

Lewes Christmas Parade

How many of you love spreading holiday cheer loud and wide for all to hear? Yes, we borrowed that line from Elf and it precisely describes Lessard’s first big holiday event happening of 2018; The Lewes Christmas Parade! On Saturday, December 4th the town of Lewes held their 87th annual Lewes Christmas Parade and our team participated in the Christmas parade fun with a custom built Christmas float and costumes we made for the event!

2018 Lewes Christmas Parade Lessard Builders holiday floatOur Lessard float was themed ‘A Lego Superhero Christmas’ and roughly a dozen members of our team donned custom homemade life-size Lego superhero and supervillain suits to partake in the holiday fun! The float had two parts; A platform built of colored blocks and holiday lights which carried the seven life-size superheroes and a jail cell decorated with holiday lights in the rear that transported three villains. The two-platformed superhero float was driven through the downtown Lewes parade route by Lessard Builders owner Brian Lessard in his white SUV. The Lessard Builders SUV, topped by a white “Built by Lessard Builders” sign, proceeded down the parade route with our heroes and villains waving from the floats while superhero theme songs like “The Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin played in the background. The weather was perfect, all the incredible people that came out were singing and cheering, and kids were so excited to see life-size Lego Batman, Iron Man, Thor and The Joker coming down the parade. We turned down Second Street to a swarm of smiling children. Everything beautiful about the holidays crystalized into one timeless moment. It meant the world to us at Lessard Builders. Brian Lessard and our super-builder superhero team

It was special to be a part of the 2018 Lewes Christmas parade and to see so many smiling faces for the holidays. We’d like to thank the Lewes Chamber of Commerce for doing an exceptional job with the 2018 parade. Lastly a humble brag, we are proud to say our float earned a 2nd Place trophy in the Commercial Float category and a 2nd Place prize for Best Sound! We have our sights set on trying to spread double the Christmas parade cheer next year!

Two of our supervillains in our parade float Christmas jail

Toys for Tots

The 2018 holiday season has also been special to us for another reason.

Our owners Brian and Kathy Lessard come from large families and know how difficult on a family the holidays can be. Coming from a family of more than a half dozen, owner Brian Lessard was determined this holiday season to do more than only participating in a night of holiday parade cheer. We wanted to do our best to ensure every child across Delmarva is smiling on Christmas morning with presents to open. This holiday season Lessard Builders was a US Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program official Toys for Tots Toy Drop location for our first time!Lessard Builders Toys for Tots toy drive 2018

Christina Lessard dropping off our toys to Toys for Tots.

Our model home The Saltaire acted as an official Toys for Tots Toy Drop location beginning in early November until last Saturday, December 8th. Dozens of toys were dropped off during that time and we’re so grateful for all the children on Christmas morning who we may have helped. We’d like to thank every Lessard homeowner, every construction industry colleague and every friend and neighbor who pitched in by donating a toy. You all helped us make our first ever time hosting a Toys for Tots toy drive a success, thank you.

Lessard Builders is proud to also have sponsored three of Delmarva Broadcasting’s local radio stations as they broadcast live last Saturday from the site of three Toys for Tots Toy Drive locations, in: Georgetown, Milford, and Berlin/Ocean City MD. Between the three locations thousands of toys were collected- all of which we are told will stay right here locally and given to families in need across Delmarva. Our very own Christina Lessard brought and delivered our two huge boxes of toys to Toys for Tots last Saturday as well!

We are so excited to have pitched a hand in with Toys for Tots to make the holidays brighter. The idea of children not having a Christmas morning just doesn’t sit well with us.

Well look at the time… it’s time for some chocolate chip cookies and milk! That’s all for now! From all of us at Lessard Builders, we hope you enjoy a safe, peaceful, joyous holiday season! Merry Christmas!

Delaware has been known for generations for its farms. The First State’s rich agricultural history goes all the way back to the region’s earliest colonial settlers, who quickly realized Delaware’s fertile grounds and mild climate made it perfect for farming. Farming began in the colonial days with crops like rice, wheat and indigo which sustained Delawareans physically and financially. Over the years as America changed, so did Delaware; yet the focus on agriculture in the First State never went away. Three hundred years later, those of us in Delaware are still blessed with first-class locally grown produce.

Farms of the First State

We know many people enjoy pumpkin picking, apple picking, and cutting your own fresh Christmas trees during the Fall, so we want to bring awareness to a few incredible local farms that operate in the first state! To see a complete list of all the farms you can visit in Delaware, click the links directly below! We’ll also include a link to a handy harvest calendar for all the fruit and veggie lovers!

Delaware’s Pick Your Own Farm Directory

Annual Delaware Harvest Calendar

Fifer Orchards- Camden Wyoming, DE

You may not know this about Lessard Builders… our model home The Saltaire is in Lewes, but our main office is actually in Camden Wyoming! So, Fifers is like our de-facto hometown orchard! We love Fifers and all the options they have for picking. They offer pick-your-own apples, a pumpkin picking patch, corn mazes, freshly made homemade apple cider, and a store filled with tons of prepicked produce. Fifer’s also hosts an annual “Fall Fest” in October, an annual Strawberry festival in May and an annual Peach festival held on the first Saturday in August. Fifers is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. For more information visit their website https://www.fiferorchards.com/ .

Landis Tree Farm- Harbeson, DE

Landis’ Tree Farm was founded started in the early 1990s and has established itself as one of Delaware’s best places to get a fresh cut Christmas tree. What started two decades ago as a few trees on a 20-acre property as grown into a massive tree farm with a wide variety of Christmas trees. Looking for a traditional Frasier Fir, White Pine or Douglas Fir tree? They’ve got them. Looking for a Christmas tree of a different variety? They grow Caanan Firs, Concolor Firs, White Spruce and others. The fine folks at Landis allow for selecting your own tree to cut down fresh or picking from a variety of Pre-Cut Frasier or Douglas Fir trees. They have trees of all sizes, wreaths, memorial wreaths and more available and generally open on weekends after Thanksgiving. Landis’ also offers complimentary hot beverages and cookies while you’re searching in the cold for your tree! For more information visit their website, http://www.landistreefarm.com/ .

No Tricks, All Treats

It’s almost that time of year again, and Coastal Delaware no longer slows down in the Fall like it once did. We appreciate living in Delaware all year long, but there is something special about Fall in Delaware. After most of us spend all summer at the beach, the cool ocean breeze, corn fields and farmland that makes Delaware perfect for the Fall. We love to share the word about the best places and the most fun amusements you can enjoy in Delaware, so here we go! No matter what you like to do, whether it’s enjoy a cold drink or spend time with your kids, there is a ton you can enjoy in October.

We’ll start off by providing you the links to the most comprehensive October activity lists that already exist, and then below that hit on a few of our Lessard Builders favorites for October 2018 Fall Fun. The two links below are exceptional websites that have compiled all the October fun going on in Delaware and on Delmarva.

Delaware Haunted House’s Delaware 2018 Halloween Event Calendar

Those of us at Lessard Builders may not be full fledged Halloween experts, but we know a thing or two about Reese’s Cups, Snickers bars, trick or treating and Fall fun. Here are three local October events that are our:

October 2018 fun favorites

Boast The Coast, Saturday October 6th &  Coast Day, Sunday October 7th

Coast Day has been a University of Delaware Fall tradition for decades. It’s sibling event, the Boast the Coast celebration, is occurring for the 23rd year in conjunction with it. These back-to-back local festivals celebrate Delaware’s relationship with the ocean and Coastal Delaware’s centuries of nautical heritage. If you are looking for some first weekend of October fun, look no further!

We recommend you start off the festivities on Saturday exploring Downtown Lewes and Canalfront Park for Boast the Coast. Boast the Coast is a psuedo festival where many local businesses set up for a huge sidewalk sale with the very best of their ocean spirit: so, you can expect tons of food (seafood in particular), vendors, and activities. There will also be an Oktoberfest celebration from 2pm to 6pm in Canalfront Park for the second year in a row.

The next day, Sunday, University of Delaware’s Hugh R. Sharp (Pilottown Road) campus hosts their traditional Coast Day event! Coast Day is magnificent because it provides a fun, engaging, hands on event where people of all ages can learn about the ocean, modern ocean research, and our ocean history. Coast Day activities include seafood cooking demonstrations from local chefs, ship tours, touch tanks filled with ocean creatures for kids to learn about, food vendors, shopping, and over a dozen rooms filled with different talks and presentations.

Bottom line: Boast The Coast and Coast Day are worth a definite earmark for the 6th and 7th!

Rehoboth Beach Sea Witch Parade Oct 26th-28th

Sea Witch Festival Program- https://www.beach-fun.com/images/SWProgram2018.AsOf9.14.18.pdf

We love the Sea Witch Festival and Parade! The Sea Witch Festival is one of Coastal Delaware’s biggest Fall attractions and has continued to improve and grow with each year. 2018 should be more fun than ever. Residents and visitors alike flock to downtown Rehoboth on Saturday to watch as hundreds of local businesses and residents parade down the Rehoboth avenue in extravagant costumes and on ornately crafted floats! The parade and parade float/costume contest is one of the highlights, but there are also dozens of other activities. From a “witches cackle” contest, to dog costume competitions, to face painting and trick or treating you won’t want to miss this crown jewel of Fall Fun in Coastal Delaware.

Oh, be sure to keep an eye out for us and our Lessard Builders float in the parade on Saturday!

Cape Henlopen State Park’s 30th Children’s Halloween Fantasy Trail

Saturday October 26th 6pm – 8pm,  Sunday October 27th 6pm – 7:30pm

One of the best child-friendly Halloween activities in Delaware. Cape Henlopen State Parks transforms into a Halloween Fantasy Trail wonderland the weekend before Halloween. The State Park sets up their Fantasy Trail as a walking trick-or-treat trail filled with candy, toys, and it’s lined with all your kids favorite storybook characters along the way. Once your kiddies are finished trick or treating there is also entertainment, games and activities taking place under their big tent each evening. It’s a great way for you to take your kids whether you’re solo or you have a huge group of their friends. If you have questions about Cape Henlopen’s Fantasy Trail, call 302-645-6852.

We hope you all enjoy your October!

Celebrating Grandparent’s Day 2018

Did you know that, since 1978, the Second Sunday in September has been hailed as National Grandparent’s Day? If you already knew of National Grandparent’s Day, we’re impressed! We, like many of you out there, hadn’t heard a peep about this holiday to celebrate Grandparents until very recently. Yet while just learned about Grandparent’s Day, we quickly realized this little-known holiday celebrates some of the most deserving and important people- the older members of our family who came before us. Join all of us in honoring and remembering the elders in our lives and our communities who helped mold and show us the way. This Sunday, September 9th, is Grandparent’s Day 2018.

The Origin of a National Grandparents Day

Forty years ago, President Jimmy Carter decided Grandparents and elders also deserved a National day of recognition. At the proclamation ceremony in which National Grandparent’s Day was created, Carter declared, “The Elders in each family have the responsibility for setting the moral tone for the family and passing on the values of our Nation to their children and grandchildren. They bore the hardships and made the sacrifices that produced much of the progress and comforts we enjoy today.” What is striking about President Carter’s words is that while they rang clear in 1978, forty years later they still resonate. Grandparents are often key figures in helping us and our children to imagine and dream, create a connection to family culture and develop a sense of our past and family history.

Grandparent’s Day and Our Lives

Take this moment to think back to the most influential people in your life… who are they?

Some of you may immediately have thought parents or grandparents, siblings, aunts or uncles, friends etc. but regardless of who popped into your head- they were likely influenced at some point by an elder who took the time to help mold, mentor and set the tone for them. President Carter created this day to recognize the critical role of elders and Grandparents in the successful foundation and growth of American society in a way similar to Mother’s and Father’s Day.

Grandparent’s Day is especially important to us at Lessard Builders. It was Dan Lessard, our founder and Grandfather/Great-Grandfather, who laid the foundation for Lessard Builders. Dan then taught his son Addie the carpentry, management and construction skills needed to be an exceptional builder and someday pass along the family trade. It was that carpenter-builder foundation which was passed from Dan to his son Addie which in time filtered down to Dan’s Grandsons- including Brian Lessard, our owner today. Without the foundation laid by past generations Lessard Builders and many businesses would not exist today.

Please take a moment this Sunday, September 9th to honor and remember the elders in your family and your life who lit the torch to show you the way. As Socrates once said, “Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel.” If not for many a Grandparent’s stories, love and encouragement, most of us and our Nation would be very different today.

Testimonials

Douglas Family

It has been 5 months since we took possession of our Lessard built home. We are pleased Lessard was our chosen builder as the house more than meets all of our expectations. From the workmanship, to the paint, the floors, the trim, the appliances and the total layout, we are extremely pleased. The Lessard family was there, by our side during all phases and remains a mere phone call away now that we are in. We, without reservation or hesitation, recommend Lessard Builders to anyone thinking about building their dream home. You will not be disappointed!

Johnson Family

The entire Lessard team was amazing in helping us build the house of our dreams. From our very first meeting with them and throughout the process, they were extremely responsive. Their attention to detail was incomparable. We had a vision and they made it happen!

King family home

When we walked in the door of the Lessard model we were greeted by the builder himself and his daughter. We realized this clearly was a family business where the homes were built with pride, and it was never lost on my mother and I that our home was built as though we were family. My home is so well constructed that when the nor’easters blow at 65mph, my draperies never waft! We made so many changes to our home that I think the only original walls were the exterior, yet Lessard Builders didn’t charge us for rearranging the floor plan and moving all those walls. The Lessard team worked with us for over a year as we worked our floor plan to suit our needs and there was never a sense of rush or urgency. I’ve never had so much fun and our home turned out absolutely perfect.
